AMRO Annual Consultation Visit

AMRO Annual Consultation Visit

Ministry of Finance (MoF) warmly welcomed the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) for the AMRO Annual Consultation Visit (ACV) chaired by YBhg. Dato’ Zamzuri Abdul Aziz, Deputy Secretary General of Treasury (Policy).

The consultation started off with opening remarks by Mr. Kian Heng Peh, Group Head and Lead Economist of AMRO and YBrs. Dr. Mastura Abdul Karim, Undersecretary, Fiscal and Economics Division (FED) followed presentation by Mrs. Rozita Abd Matalib, Deputy Undersecretary, Mr. Imri Dolhadi Ab Wahab Deputy Undersecretary.

The ACV is a core pillar of AMRO’s surveillance mandate under Article 3 of the AMRO Agreement and serves as an important platform for open and constructive dialogue on key macroeconomic and policy issues. This year’s consultation provided a timely opportunity for in-depth discussions on Malaysia’s macroeconomic outlook.

Despite ongoing global uncertainties, Malaysia’s economy continues to demonstrate resilience, supported by strong domestic demand, robust household spending, favourable labour market conditions and contained inflation. In line with the MADANI Economy Framework, the Government remains committed to structural and fiscal reforms to enhance productivity, competitiveness, digitalisation and high-quality investments, while staying firmly on track to reduce the fiscal deficit to 3.5% by 2026.

The session brought together senior officials from various MoF divisions including International Division (INT), Fiscal and Economics Division (FED), Tax Division (TAX), National Budget Office (NBO), Government Procurement Division (GPD) and Government Investment Companies Division (GIC) to engage with the AMRO team, provide clarifications and exchange views.

MoF looks forward to continued close collaboration with AMRO in strengthening regional surveillance and economic cooperation.
