The ASEAN Working Committee On Financial Services Liberalisation & Simplified ESG Disclosure Guide

The ASEAN Working Committee on Financial Services Liberalisation (WC-FSL) convened to discuss the progress of ongoing and new initiatives on financial services liberalisation in the region. The meeting continued to discuss the priorities, initiatives and emerging areas in regional and plurilateral international agreements affecting financial services. Delegates exchanged views on structural and capacity improvements that can better support the path to realising ASEAN's economic aspiration, overall, the WC-FSL remains steadfast in supporting its objectives and will continue making strides in achieving its priorities this year.

Other than the meeting, Capital Markets Malaysia (CMM) and the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) successfully conducted the Simplified ESG Disclosure Guide (SEDG) workshop for ASEAN SMEs at St. Giles Wembley, Penang.

This initiative marks a significant step toward advancing inclusive and sustainable capital markets, equipping ASEAN SMEs with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate ESG disclosures effectively. By simplifying reporting frameworks, the SEDG aims to enhance SMEs participation and foster greater transparency in ESG reporting across ASEAN.

Held in conjunction with the ASEAN Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting -Working Group (AFCDM-WG) and Related Meetings, the workshop reinforces the region’s commitment to responsible business practices and long-term economic resilience.
