KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Bernama) – Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) president Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser’s inaugural visit to Malaysia is aimed to strengthen the already excellent relationship between Malaysia and the IsDB Group.
In a statement, IsDB said the two-day visit, which ended today, was a follow-up to the bilateral meeting between Muhammad Sulaiman and Deputy Finance Minister 1 Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah during the 47th IsDB annual meeting in Egypt, held on June 2-4, 2022.
“Muhammad Sulaiman also witnessed the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the IsDB Centre of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd, and Yayasan Waqf Malaysia in undertaking a feasibility study on the awqaf sector in the country,” iSDB said.
The statement added that the main objective of the study was to assess and ascertain which primary business components and investments were the most beneficial and relevant for the envisaged awqaf fund, leveraging on IsDB Awqaf Properties Investment Funds’ business model and performance.
